“Through the Eyes of a Senior" (Th’EYES) is an interactive program developed through the Orange County Government Office and Commission on Aging, to build empathy and increase awareness of the challenges our seniors face as they deal with eye disease and sight degeneration.

The program recruits average-sighted community volunteers to participate in hands-on training where they must perform tasks with glasses that emulate diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and other eye diseases.

After completing the training, participants may offer interactive training to local businesses as well as community and family support groups who would like to learn how to become more empathetic toward seniors with vision challenges.
